Scholarships and Grants
Multicultural Program: Diversity Program Scholarships
The Diversity Sub-Committee scholarships are a spin-off from the original TAS Multicultural Relations Committee. In an effort directed at involving ethnic groups other than Native Americans, the Diversity Sub-Committee will encourage interested individuals to participate in the Texas Archeological Society by initially offering scholarships to Society programs (Annual Meeting, one scholarship; the Archeology Academy, two scholarships; and Field School, two scholarships), contingent on funding being available. The Sub-Committee will follow a process similar to the Collegiate Scholarship Sub-Committee. Applications will be available in the TAS newsletter and online; Diversity Sub-Committee members will review and determine scholarship recipients. The chosen individuals will receive the same stipend and offerings provided the Native American and Collegiate Scholarship recipients. Applicants need not be students to be eligible.
Annual Meeting Scholarship
The Diversity scholarship recipient will be registered as an individual or student TAS member for the current year, if not already a member, and will receive the Bulletin of the Texas Archeological Society and Texas Archeology newsletter. The Annual Meeting registration fee and banquet registration will be covered for the scholarship recipient. Upon arrival at the Annual Meeting, the scholarship recipient will also receive a check for $200 as reimbursement for a hotel room and transportation to the meeting. The recipient will be responsible for making his/her own hotel arrangements. If funding is sufficient, one Annual Meeting scholarship will be awarded each year. The deadline to apply is September 1.
